Key takeaways
- Default schedule (US domestic cards): 2.90% + 0.30 USD
- On $100.00 charged: fee $3.20, net $96.80
- To receive $100.00: charge about $103.30
How to use this Stripe fee calculator
- Choose a fee schedule (US, UK, Canada, Australia, EU, international, Connect, or Invoicing).
- Enter the charge amount (forward) or the net amount you want to receive (reverse).
- Read the fee, net, customer charge, and effective rate instantly in your browser.
How it’s calculated
Forward: fee = charge × percent + fixed; net = charge − fee. Reverse: charge = (desiredNet + fixed) ÷ (1 − percent). Amounts are rounded to the nearest cent.
Worked check on the default schedule: charge $100.00 → fee $3.20 → net $96.80. Reverse: to keep $100.00, charge about $103.30.
Worked example: receive $100 after Stripe US fees
Desired net = $100, percent = 2.9%, fixed = $0.30. Charge = (100 + 0.30) ÷ (1 − 0.029) = 100.30 ÷ 0.971 ≈ $103.30. Fee ≈ $3.30, net ≈ $100.00.

Regional Stripe rates in this tool
US and Canada commonly use 2.9% + $0.30. UK and many EU card rates are lower on domestic cards (for example 1.5% + a fixed amount). Australia uses 1.65% + A$0.30 for domestic cards (international cards 3.5% + A$0.30). Always confirm the live table for your country account.
Tips for pricing with Stripe
- International cards add 1.5% and currency conversion adds 1% on top of the domestic US rate (4.4% or 5.4% + $0.30 combined).
- Stripe Connect platform application fees are separate from card processing — model them as an extra percent if you charge one.
- Invoicing product fees (if any) are not the same as card processing; check Stripe Invoicing pricing for your volume.
Common mistakes
- Pricing products at your cost floor without reverse-calculating fees.
- Assuming UK/EU rates match US 2.9% + $0.30.
- Forgetting that declined or disputed payments can have other costs not shown here.
When Stripe is the right default
Stripe is built for developers and growing businesses that want card checkout, subscriptions, invoicing, and Connect marketplaces in one API. The headline US online rate (2.9% + $0.30) is a useful planning number, but Stripe also publishes lower European domestic card rates and higher international card add-ons. If more than a quarter of your customers pay with non-US cards, model the international schedule instead of the domestic one. Stripe Invoicing and Stripe Billing add product fees separate from card processing — this calculator focuses on the card capture layer so you can price products and invoices consistently.
Stripe Connect and platforms
Marketplaces often pay standard card processing on the charge, then move money with Connect transfers and optional application fees. If you operate a platform, separate “what the card network costs” from “what you charge sellers.” Many platforms pass processing through at cost and earn on application fees. Use the Connect schedule here as the processing baseline, then add your platform percent in a spreadsheet or second calculator pass.
Currency conversion
When you charge in one currency but settle in another, Stripe may apply a conversion fee (often around 1% in addition to processing). Cross-border card fees can stack on top. For global SaaS, run the same net-receive target through both domestic and international schedules to see worst-case pricing.
