Platform fee vs processing fee

Creator tools often show a platform commission (Patreon plan percent, Ko-fi 0–5% service fee, Buy Me a Coffee ~5%, Gumroad 10% + $0.50 direct) separately from card processing. Our default calculator rows blend both when the public page does not publish a single all-in number, and label those rows as estimates. Always read the schedule notes on each tool and confirm payout timing — some platforms pay out on their own calendar even when the percent looks simple.

Tip-sized payments ($5–$50) feel platform fees more than large digital-product checkouts because fixed processing amounts are a bigger share of the tip. Use the $50 fee example for tip math and the Gumroad vs Ko-fi guide when you sell downloads instead of memberships.
